Official Court Dimensions

Precise Measurements for Compliance

Complete specifications for padel court dimensions, including playing area, service zones, net height, and access requirements according to official regulations.

Official padel court dimensions are strictly regulated to ensure consistency and fair play across all levels of competition. These measurements must be precisely followed to meet international standards and tournament requirements.

Main Court Dimensions

Total Area and Layout

The official padel court measures exactly 20 meters in length and 10 meters in width. This rectangular playing area provides the standard dimensions for all competitive play and must be maintained with a maximum tolerance of 0.5% in any direction.

The court is divided into two equal halves by a net positioned at the center line. Each half measures 10 meters in length, creating balanced playing areas for both teams during matches.

Playing Surface

The playing surface must be completely flat and level, with no variations exceeding 1cm across the entire court area. The surface material should provide consistent ball bounce and player traction while maintaining safety standards.

All court lines must be clearly marked with a width of 5cm and should contrast clearly with the playing surface. The lines are considered part of the court area they define, meaning balls touching the line are considered in play.

Out of Court Area

The minimum out-of-court area around the playing surface should be 4 meters on all sides, providing adequate space for player movement and safety. This area must be free of obstacles and provide clear access to all court boundaries.

For professional tournaments, the out-of-court area should be increased to 6 meters to accommodate spectator viewing and media coverage requirements.

Service Areas

Service Lines

Service lines are positioned 6.95 meters from the net on each side of the court. These lines run parallel to the net and define the service zones where players must stand when serving.

The service lines must be clearly marked and extend from the side walls to the center line, creating distinct service areas for each player during doubles matches.

Service Zones

Each service zone is bounded by the service line, the side wall, the center line, and the back wall. The server must stand within this zone when serving, and the ball must land in the corresponding service zone on the opponent's side.

The service zones are equal in size and provide fair serving opportunities for both players. Any violation of service zone boundaries results in a fault according to official rules.

Central Line

The central line divides the court into two equal halves and extends from the net to the back wall. This line is crucial for determining service zones and court positioning during play.

The central line must be perpendicular to the net and side walls, ensuring accurate court division and consistent gameplay across all court installations.

Net Specifications

Net Height

The net height is precisely regulated at 0.88 meters at the center point and 0.92 meters at the posts. This slight variation creates a natural arc in the net that affects ball trajectory and gameplay dynamics.

Net height measurements must be verified regularly to ensure compliance with regulations. Any deviation from these specifications can significantly impact game fairness and ball behavior.

Net Posts and Cables

Net posts must be positioned exactly 10 meters apart and should not extend beyond the court boundaries. The posts support the net and tension cables that maintain proper net positioning and height.

Tension cables must be properly adjusted to maintain net height specifications and prevent sagging or excessive tension that could affect ball play or player safety.

Access Points

Door Dimensions

Court access doors must be positioned in the side walls and measure a minimum of 1.05 meters in height and 0.72 meters in width. These dimensions ensure safe player entry and exit while maintaining court integrity.

Doors should open outward from the court to prevent interference with play and must be equipped with appropriate safety mechanisms to prevent accidental closure during matches.

Placement Requirements

Access doors must be positioned at least 2 meters from the net and should not interfere with normal play patterns. The placement should provide convenient access while maintaining court safety and functionality.

Multiple access points may be required for larger facilities, but all doors must meet the same dimensional and safety requirements to ensure consistent court standards.
